Why we support purchasing our products with HSA/FSA funds

We recently partnered with Truemed to allow consumers to purchase our products using pre-tax HSA/FSA funds.

For us, this is an amazing step forward for healthcare and food. Because we believe food IS critical to your health and wellness. Whole, clean, and nutritious food is our first defense when it comes to staying healthy and preventing disease.

Our modern healthcare system remains deeply rooted in a reactive model,   designed to intervene when symptoms arise, when sickness sets in, or when diseases require correction. This results in many of us taking health and prevention into our own hands. From supplements, wearable health tech, and gym memberships, to genetic screenings and healthcare apps.

But what’s on our plates matters just as much in preventing disease, and we believe that more people deserve access to real, nourishing food.

The hope is that with companies like Truemed shaking up the system, we all might evolve. And real, organic and regenerative food can be seen as the valuable tool for preventative health that it is.

Let’s dig in.

Food is the original medicine.

The food system — particularly the meat industry — lags decades behind in supporting natural, regenerative and organic farming solutions.

Even though people want to eat better to stay healthy, the food system steers us toward cheap, mass-produced meat because of outdated rules and government support for big agriculture companies.

Nearly 98% of meat sold in the U.S. today is raised in ways that prioritize speed, longer shelf life, and profit over nutritional or environmental health. That means preservatives, antibiotics, hormones, and fillers in the majority of our meat.

And organic, natural, and regenerative meat — products free from antibiotics and designed to nourish, not simply fill — remain a fraction of the market.

These overly processed meats are linked to the rise in chronic illnesses our healthcare system is then required to manage.

Take school lunches as an example: For meat and seafood: there are NO national sourcing standards for school lunches and yet the school lunch program feeds 29.4 million children on a typical school day.

That means preservatives, antibiotics and fillers are served to 29 million American children each day – even when we have mounting evidence that more nutritious meals improve academic performance, better attendance and fewer behavioral issues.

Unless sent with their own lunches, these kids don’t have a choice.  Are we really shocked that the CDC reports that nearly 1 in 3 U.S. adolescents aged 12 to 17 had prediabetes in 2023?

Health should be a supportive system, not severely siloed.

If the rise of metabolic disorders, autoimmune diseases, and gut health issues are directly tied to what we eat then the concept that quality food — including regeneratively raised, organic meat as part of a medical expense is not far-fetched.

Truemed is tapping into a growing consumer hunger to align spending with preventative health values. And supporting individuals who want to invest their HSA/FSA dollars in higher-quality food is a step toward recognizing that wellness isn’t found in a supplement aisle alone, it’s embedded in every choice on our plate.

Will disrupting the system create change?

Truemed exposes a weakness in the existing model: that proactive, personalized care remains financially inaccessible for many unless it’s reframed as ‘treatment’.

If companies like Truemed continue to show up and gain support, they could provide a vital bridge between the public’s growing desire for personalized preventative health.

This approach also gives new hope to organic and regenerative farmers. Finally an incentive for greater access to meat with a mission.

In the end, good health is built over time. Nutrient dense food isn't just an “extra cost”— it's the backbone to your health and vitality. Your HSA/FSA discount awaits you.
