Our customers have been asking for a better-quality chicken for years. And we were up for the challenge. It came down to bringing everything we stand for in raising turkeys, to chicken – thoughtful practices, healthier birds, and exceptional taste.
We’ve been farming turkeys for over 4 generations, and we know a thing or two about birds.
Let's start with our breeds.
Diestel chickens are old world breeds selected for exceptional flavor and heartiness. By nature, chickens aren't as robust as turkeys, and with seasonal access to open pastures, we needed a breed robust enough to forage on pasture and handle being outdoors, yet tender enough to meet the expectations that we as 'eaters' expect from our chicken.

Sure, we've made modifications based on some unique needs that chickens have (you should see our nipple feeders). But at the end of the day, transitioning to a new bird has been simple. We still follow the practices and values that make us stand apart, and that make our birds the best.
- Slow growth - Our chickens are given the time to develop their flavor naturally.
- 100% vegetarian feed - Enhanced with vitamins and minerals, and free from animal by-products, our organic corn and soy feed is designed to give the birds just what they need, when they. need it. Plus, they supplement with all the bugs they can peck out on the range.
- No antibiotics or chemicals - We use our proprietary probiotic cleaner to create a healthy microbial environment for all our birds, eliminating the need for harsh chemicals and antibiotics on the farm.
- Room to roam - We believe in giving our birds room to stretch their feathers. Our indoor spaces (barns) have 1.5-2 times the conventional standard per bird. Then, we add our outdoor access. We are serious about room to roam. ☁️ ☀️
Put simply, whether a chicken or a turkey, all our birds are treated like the royalty they are.
