Savory Breakfast Tarts

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mother figures in your life. We hope you have a wonderful day!

In case you need some breakfast-in-bed inspiration to treat the ladies in your life, try these Savory Breakfast Tarts complete with Diestel Turkey Bacon.

  • 4 Slices Turkey bacon
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 sheet Puff pastry
  • 5 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Goat cheese or feta (crumbles)
  • 4 leaves Basil (chopped)
  • To taste Salt & pepper


  1. In a small skillet, add the olive oil and heat over medium. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and saute for approximately 10 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Meanwhile, cook the Turkey Bacon until fully cooked and set aside.
  3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  4. Take one sheet of puff pastry and cut into quarters. Place each of the quarters on a baking sheet.
  5. Fold the edges of the puff pastry to create a small crust. Then gently wet your fingertips, run the water around the edge. Then press a fork into the edge to seal it shut. This crust will hold the egg in place.
  6. Using the fork, poke holes into the puff pastry to avoid air bubbles.
  7. Break one egg and whisk it. Brush the egg over the puff pastries.
  8. Bake the puff pastries for 8 minutes. Remove from oven. The puff pastries will have puffed up. Using a fork or knife break the puff pastry in the middle so you have room to place your toppings.
  9. Add your onion, turkey bacon, egg and cheese to each tart. Then bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  10. Remove from oven and garnish with basil, salt & pepper. Serve and enjoy!
