Pulled BBQ Turkey

Pulled BBQ Turkey Slow Cooker

@DiestelTurkey

“Just turn it on and forget about it! This makes a great dinner, and snack with the leftovers, after being in class all day away at college,” says Garrett Diestel.

Recipe type: Dinner
Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 4 hours
Serves: 12-16

Ingredients

  • About 5 lbs. Diestel Turkey Boneless, Skinless Thighs
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
  • 5 gloves garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp red pepper flakes, or more for more “heat”
  • 1/4 tsp liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: liquid smoke flavoring

Directions

  1. Place turkey in two 13″ X 9″ glass baking dishes or into your crockpot
  2. Combine remaining ingredients in a medium bowl; mix and spread over and around turkey.
  3. Cover, bake at 300° F for 4 hours in oven or 8-10 hours on low in your crockpot
  4. Remove turkey from baking dishes or crockpot, shred with 2 forks. Combine turkey with sauce from baking dishes. Spoon turkey and sauce into wraps or French rolls.

Suggestion:

Layer meat in wrap in warm tortillas with black beans, chopped onions, tomatoes, avocado, sour cream, shredded lettuce and cabbage. Fold like a burrito.

Top with additional sauce, if desired. Enjoy!
